Nalati: stay from evening into first light

After the Duku Highway, keep the evening for Nalati. Staying inside the scenic area gives you time beyond the busiest daytime visits: photographs, walks, light hikes or an arranged horse ride, a gentle run or picnic, then sunset and stars. Wake with the grassland still around you.

Days 8–9 · Two calendar days, one night

Sayram Lake: another chance for the light

Give Sayram Lake time across two days, with one night beside the water. If showers or cloud arrive, pause in the RV and return to the lakeshore as the light changes. The extra night gives you more chances for photographs, a lake circuit and unhurried camping. Clear skies and outdoor activities still depend on the weather.

Durations are approximate. Daylight and night-sky experiences vary with date and weather. Vehicle reservations, scenic access, campsites, flights and trains are confirmed before booking. RV stops and camping use permitted or designated areas. Sightseeing and transfer windows can overlap and should not simply be added into a daily total. Duku Highway travel depends on seasonal opening.

Sightseeing & experience

Visit Tianshan Tianchi in the morning, with around 4–5 hours in the scenic area. Return to the city in the evening for the Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar and time to try local food independently, allowing around 2–3 hours.

Sightseeing & experience

Take the train to Shanshan. The proposed VIP-access visit to Kumtag Desert includes 2–3 hours for the dunes and an off-road dune-driving experience. Continue to Tuyugou Grand Canyon and Turpan Grape Valley, with around 6–7 hours of sightseeing across the day. Return to Urumqi by train that evening.

Sightseeing & experience

Explore Dushanzi Grand Canyon for around 2 hours. Cross the northern Duku Highway via Qiaerma, then enter Tangbula’s Hundred-Mile Gallery grasslands by RV in the afternoon. Leave around 3–4 hours for a grassland walk and sunset.

Sightseeing & experience

Rise early for sunrise in Tangbula, then spend around 3–4 hours exploring before travelling to Nalati. A long-day summer schedule plans arrival around 17:00 and roughly 5–6 hours in the scenic area into the evening. Enter River Valley Grassland using the arranged vehicle access, with around 3 hours to explore and a 2–3-hour sunset-and-stars window within the evening visit. The exact light and entry times depend on your travel date.

Sightseeing & experience

Wake to the first light over the grassland, around 07:00–08:00 in the proposed summer schedule. Explore Sky Grassland for around 4 hours in the morning and Panlong Valley Road for around 4 hours in the afternoon. The itinerary allows more than 8 hours in the scenic area, followed by a second night in Nalati.

Sightseeing & experience

Leave Nalati before the planned midday departure, aiming to get ahead of the busiest visiting period, and travel to Yining. Spend around 3–4 hours from afternoon into evening exploring Six Star Street and Kazanqi, with accordion culture and neighbourhood life.

Sightseeing & experience

Stop at Guozigou Bridge for photographs, then enter Sayram Lake with the arranged direct vehicle access. Explore the lakeshore and Swan Lake, allowing around 8–10 hours from midday into the evening on a long-day summer schedule. Watch for sunset near Dianjiangtai and stars after dark, then stay beside the lake at a designated campsite.

Sightseeing & experience

Watch for sunrise lighting the mountains, then continue the arranged vehicle tour around the lake. Explore Songshutou, Kele Yongzhu (Bubbling Springs) and Tian’e Leshui for around 3–4 hours before returning to Urumqi in the afternoon.
